Nature photographer Urmas Tartes organises a workshop during Nature Festival

On Thursday, 8 June, at 4 pm, the University of Tartu Botanical Garden will host a nature photography workshop led by Urmas Tartes.
In the photography workshop, we will focus on taking pictures of plants and spot and photograph moving life forms where possible. We will cover theoretical and practical tips for taking pictures. We'll find out if and how much there is in common between a scientific document and a fine art image, how to make a wildlife photo and how to use metadata in a still image. Each participant will be given a minor assignment to create a photo gallery. Any camera or equipment with a camera is suitable for taking pictures.
The nature photography training with Urmas Tartes will take place on 8 June at 16:00 at the University of Tartu Botanical Garden. Bring your camera. The training will last about two hours. The free training is free, but pre-registration is required by filling in the form or writing to loodusfestival@ut.ee. Places are limited.
The nature photography workshop is part of the Nature Festival programme. The entire programme can be found on the Nature Festival website.
The Nature Festival will take place from 7 to 11 June across Estonia. The festival invites people to appreciate the diversity of urban nature as a living environment, to notice nature in the city and promote behaviours promoting biodiversity. The University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden and its partners organise the festival. The Nature Festival is part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 programme. The Environmental Investment Centre and Tartu 2024 support the festival.

More than 10 000 nature observations were made in a 24-hour period during the Nature Observation Marathon
During the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 Arts of Survival Creative Nature Festival on 8-9 June, over 10,300 nature observations were recorded within 24 hours. All observations, except those of strictly protected species, can be viewed on the eDiversity data portal managed by the University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden.
Part of the exhibition "Enter Woodland Spirits" opens at the Natural History Museum on Friday, June 28th
On Friday, June 28th, the international technological art exhibition "Enter Woodland Spirits" will open as part of the main program of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024. The exhibition aims to bring folk tales to life and make the spirituality of nature tangible. It will take place in two neighbouring buildings: the Estonian Literature Museum and the University of Tartu Natural History Museum.
Guided tours of the “Veil of Nature” take place every week
In response to the current environmental crisis, the exhibition “Veil of Nature” by Luxembourgish artist Justine Blau, curated by Fanny Weinquin, explores, through works navigating between documentation, illusion and narration, man’s relationship with nature and conservation practices. Guided tours of the exhibition “Veil of Nature” will take place every Saturday from June 22nd to July 20th and on the last day of the exhibition, July 28th.
